The Opportunity: 

The newly created Assistant General Counsel role will provide legal advice and counsel on matters primarily relating to Data Privacy and Contracts. This position will collaborate with business partners across the organization to provide strategy, thought leadership and guidance related to the company’s global privacy program as well as vendor and customer contracts.  

 

Responsibilities: 

Provide legal guidance on global privacy and data security laws and regulations.Oversee data subject request process and program.Manage, update and implement privacy policies, procedures and guidelines, and ensure compliance with the same.Respond to privacy and data protection-related inquiries from internal stakeholders. Manage outside counsel budget and activities related to Data Privacy and Contract matters.Draft, manage and update key provisions for contract templates.Oversee and improve upon the internal contract management process across the organization and assess and resolve inefficiencies .Maintain knowledge of laws, regulations and best practices in data privacy.Create and deliver ongoing training across the organization, particularly with respect to privacy.  Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Skillset: 

Demonstrated success in building internal trust and strong relationships with business partners.Excellent time management and organizational skills with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment.Knowledge and experience analyzing and applying federal, state, and global laws related to privacy and data protection, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, etcStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Experience with Google Workspace a plus

 

Education and Requirements:

J.D. from accredited law school with 2-4 years’ relevant legal experience, in-house counsel experience a plusLicensed to practice law in at least one US stateExperience as counsel for SaaS Company (in-house or external) preferredCertified International Privacy Professional Certification (CIPP) a plus
