Director of Engineering
Parity Technologies builds core infrastructure for blockchains and Web 3.0 technologies. This means dealing with P2P networking, consensus algorithms, cryptography, databases, and decentralised applications. We strive to write the fastest, lightest, and safest core technology in Blockchain and write lots of open-source code.
At Parity Technologies, we have built and launched live networks like Kusama and Polkadot atop the Substrate blockchain framework. We want to bring to these networks first-class, end-to-end user experiences, showing how easy it is to use these next-generation blockchains.
As the Engineering team rapidly grows, we seek a dedicated Director of Engineering. This person will work in a close partnership with the Head of Engineering, as well as the Engineering team leads. They will support team leads in expanding their teams, and drive and execute strategic technical projects.
Directly support the development of the Engineering team leadsTake an active role in building high-performing, empowered teams and coaching/mentoring internal talents to accelerate their growthHelp with initiatives aiming to attract and hire new developersOversee and manage projects, roadmaps, and strategic decisionsEnsure project/product statuses and action steps are clearly communicated and provided to all stakeholdersInfluence the overall roadmap and strategy of the Engineering department Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to engineering processes, tools, and proceduresLead cross-department collaboration Be conduit for interaction between Engineering and the wider Dotsama ecosystemRepresent the Engineering team in leadership meetings
10+ years of industry experience Keen interest in learning Rust; must have professional experience in a system languageProven experience in leading technical teams and effectively interacting with stakeholders in cross-functional setupsAbility to operate well in the unknown and advocate for the teamAbility to solve problems and build scalable solutionsAbility to work independently and deliver results with little supervisionExcellent organisation and time management skills; ability to prioritise tasks across multiple projectsExperience supporting global remote teams at scaleProven ability to quickly learn new and complex topicsComfortable working in a high-growth environment thatâs constantly changingPassionate about blockchain technologies and bringing a decentralized web to the worldFamiliarity with software engineering and open source software cultureFundamental understanding of software development methodologies, values, and processesClear and concise written and verbal communication Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week)
